“We May Never Pass This Way (Again)” (Seals and Crofts)

Jim Seals and Dash Crofts were a pretty big deal in the early ’70s. Their soft rock sound constantly oozed from AM radios across the country, lulling listeners into a gentle respite from the chaos of their everyday lives.

Seals and Crofts notched eight top forty hits between 1972 and 1978. Today’s classic song of the day, “We May Never Pass This Way (Again),” was one of them. Released in September of 1973, this easy listening track peaked at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 but made it all the way to #2 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.

“We May Never Pass This Way (Again)” reflected the duo’s burgeoning commitment to the Baháʼí faith. The reflective yet inspirational lyrics reflect the courage to keep going when things are tough and the belief that those things will get better:

Life
So they say
Is but a game and we let it slip away.
Love
Like the autumn sun
Should be dyin’
But it’s only just begun

Like the twilight in the road up ahead
They don’t see just where we’re goin’
And all the secrets in the universe
Whisper in our ears
All the years will come and go
Take us up
Always up

We may never pass this way again
We may never pass this way again
We may never pass this way again

And for today’s daily bonus video of the day, here’s Seals and Crofts performing “We May Never Pass This Way (Again)” live on the PBS Soundstage program in May of 1974. Like I said, they were pretty big back then.
